Yesterday, Friday, was the first day of my "staycation." The word "staycation" is a portmanteau of the words "stay" and "vacation." How clever. I wish I could claim credit for that one but I heard the term on NPR the other morning, and to my surprise, it even has a Wikipedia article about it. Actually, I'm not sure why I was surprised about that.
Side note: If you Wikipedia, "wikipedia," the article cites 147 references. Is that really necessary? "Physics" has 27 and "Neuroscience" just 1. I'm just saying.
Anyways, I digress. So I've dedicated this staycation to getting the things done that I would like to/have meant to/am in dire need to do. Yesterday also marked the very first day of INBOX.VICTORY. It took me over 20 hours to get there, but it's been 24 hours of bliss ever since. While it wasn't the orgasmic, life affirming experience predicted (see 3rd post), it was an awesome feeling and I'm really proud that I managed to get there. I now use 17 flags and over 20 filters; both powerful tools I hope will keep me from ever spiraling into that dark place again. I feel like I'm giving one of those personal testimonials about gastric bypass surgery, but 8,000 emails in your inbox is no joke. To celebrate my victory I went out and got a manicure. I asked for Pantone 805 (if you know the color without looking it up, we might be soul mates) but sadly OPI doesn't carry it. I settled for "Cajun Shrimp" with a thin layer of orange on top. Close, but not the same. Le sigh.
